About
With the eagerness of a dewy adolescent and the thoughtful diligence of veteran filmmaker, Sean Stiegemeier appears to be something of a conundrum; the paradoxical figure both intuitive while at the same time mindfully meticulous. Amid his absolute fervor for cinematography and music, Stiegemeier has found a creative outlet for this passion in directing and shooting music videos. Such videos have aired on various major television networks and harvested cult followings in the online community. In his spare time, although seemingly sparse, he has found time to cultivate his love for photography while again incorporating his inextricably bound love of music and film; from shooting various promotional photo spreads for top artists, to behind the scene stills from video sets. Stiegemeier’s work has always strived to capture the raw and natural beauty of landscapes and people, providing insight to the wilderness and it’s prehistoric yet ever evolving story. Which why it is no surprise then, that his love for travel, among other things, has also become a reoccurring theme in his photographs.
Hailing from picturesque Park City Utah, Sean eagerly moved to California with the intention to study film and pursue his creative aspirations. Completing his undergraduate at Chapman University and eventually earning his Master’s degree from American Film Institute for Cinematography, Stiegemeier is not only a natural at his craft but well versed in the technical aspects of his chosen profession. Evidence to this, Sean earned the 2007 ASC Award for his cinematography work on his AFI thesis film, “The Butcher’s Daughter” generating nods from various cinematography publications. Sean will be featured in the May 2008 issue of American Cinematographer. Due to Sean’s instinctive desire to develop his knowledge, he currently seeks to stretch his visual directing skills further, turning his attention toward commercials in hopes of expanding his opportunity in different marketplaces.
